Tech Tip - Restart vs. Reboot

🔄 Tech Tip: Restarting Your Router vs. Rebooting Your Network

What’s the Difference?

Think they’re the same thing? Not quite. 👀

Restarting your router = a quick refresh.
Unplug it, wait a few seconds, plug it back in. This can clear temporary glitches and help get your connection back on track—without changing your saved settings.

Rebooting your network = a full reset. ⚠️
This is a much bigger step that resets your network equipment to its original settings. It will erase your preset usernames, passwords and other customized network settings.

💡 Our recommendation:
Having a small connection hiccup? Restart your router first.
Still having issues? Contact PSC Fiber before rebooting your network. We can help determine the best next step!

Because sometimes, “turn it off and back on again” is helpful… but “reset everything” is a whole different ballgame. 😉
